Journey to Excellence describes the history, development, and progress of military rehabilitation programs for the blind. A blinded veteran himself, Miyagawa adds heartrending, yet uplifting personal accounts from those men who had lost the gift of sight while in service to America.
About the Author
Stephen Miyagawa has been sightless for 47 years and is a war-injured veteran who successfully completed the Hines Blind Rehabilitation program in 1952. He holds a BA degree in sociology. Miyagawa created the newsletter for the Hines Blind Center Alumni and also wrote for the Illinois BVA Voice. He later edited the CBRC Torch, which became the official publication of the Hines Blind Center. Upon retirement from the CBRC Torch, he authored this book, the culmination of 17 years of writing experience.
