This is the true story of several European families who came to our country in the late 19th century. These hardy pioneers settled a rural community in southwestern Minnesota. They courageously faced the hardships and demands of their daily lives with perseverance and faith. Now we can gain a better appreciation of those unsung heroes who made the American Midwest what it is.
About the Author
AnnMae Johnson has taught in California, Illinois, and Wisconsin. She presently teaches at an alternative public school in Minnesota. She has visited schools in other countries including China and Japan. She has visited schools in other countries including China and Japan. A fellowship at Cambridge University made it possible for her to study the English educational system. While there, she was a volunteer teacher for several months. AnnMae grew up on a farm in southwestern Minnesota.
